Role: PhD candidate, sole author | Completed: May 2024 | Advisor: Renato Molina | Committee: Katharine Mach, David Kelly, Chris Parmeter
Overview My dissertation, Essays on Housing Affordability and Climate Risk in Florida, asks how hurricanes and flood risk change Florida’s housing market. Each chapter looks at a different part of that market: home sales, rentals, and mobile homes. Together they show that climate events can make housing less affordable, and that the costs fall hardest on lower-income households.

It was funded by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. As a policy fellow at the Council, I was the principal author of the program’s report, Affordable Housing and Flood Risk Throughout the Region: A Density Analysis of Flood Risk and Social Vulnerability.
